Good Samaritan Ministries (GSM)
Founded in Faith, Built Through Sacrifice
Good Samaritan Ministries (GSM) was established in 2005 in Narasapuram, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India, with a simple vision: to serve the poor, support needy children, encourage youth through education, and share Christian values through practical service and compassion.
The ministry was founded by Mani Raj while he was working as a Medical Representative with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK Pharmaceuticals). Alongside his professional career, he actively participated in gospel ministry, youth encouragement, prayer fellowship activities, and community outreach programs.
During this period, God placed a burden on his heart to create a ministry that would combine Christian service with educational and social development for underprivileged communities.
The Vision
The vision of Good Samaritan Ministries was inspired by the Biblical principle of the Good Samaritan, who demonstrated compassion through action.
GSM was founded with the mission to:
- Support poor and needy families.
- Provide educational opportunities for youth.
- Encourage character development and spiritual values.
- Assist children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Create facilities that contribute to community welfare.
- Promote vocational and career-oriented education.
Our belief is that true ministry not only shares faith but also empowers people through education, guidance, and practical support.
Mother Karen’s Children’s Home (MKCH)
One of the earliest initiatives of GSM was the establishment of Mother Karen’s Children’s Home (MKCH).
With the support of well-wishers and donors, land was acquired and a building was constructed to provide shelter and care for vulnerable children.
The vision was to create a safe environment where children could receive care, education, encouragement, and hope for a better future.
Although sustaining an orphanage without long-term donor support became increasingly difficult, the infrastructure created through this vision continued to serve the community in new ways.
Birth of Ruth Vocational Junior College
As circumstances changed and the need for sustainable educational services increased, GSM transformed part of the MKCH facility into Ruth Vocational Junior College (RVJC).
Established in 2007, RVJC was created to provide vocational and career-oriented education for students in the Narasapuram region.
The institution was named “Ruth” in honor of Mrs. Vijaya Ruth, reflecting the family’s commitment to education and service.
During its early years, RVJC experienced significant growth and became a recognized educational institution in the region.
Student enrollment grew to more than 120 students, supported by a dedicated teaching team and administrative staff. The college became known for promoting vocational education and career-focused learning opportunities for students from various backgrounds.
Challenges and Perseverance
The journey was not without challenges.
Following changes in the educational environment, increasing competition from newly established vocational colleges, and the impact of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state division period, student enrollment gradually declined.
Despite financial pressures, staff reductions, and operational difficulties, RVJC continued to serve students because of the commitment of the founders and the support of the local community.
For nearly two decades, the institution has remained active, continuing its educational mission despite limited resources. Today, RVJC continues operating from its own campus and remains committed to vocational education and youth development.
Building Community Assets
Over the years, GSM developed valuable infrastructure that continues to benefit the community.
The ministry campus presently includes:
- Educational facilities.
- Family residence.
- Community-use spaces.
- Hostel-related facilities supporting student welfare.
The campus continues to evolve to meet changing community needs while maintaining its original mission of service and development.
Our Testimony
The story of GSM is a testimony of faith, perseverance, and God’s provision.
Through seasons of growth, financial challenges, debt burdens, ministry transitions, and educational changes, the ministry has continued moving forward.
Every building, classroom, student, volunteer, supporter, and family connected to GSM has become part of this journey.
We believe that God’s faithfulness has sustained this work from the beginning and will continue to guide its future.
